African American Singer needed
Posted: June 24, 2009
The musical, Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn at the Palace Theatre in Georgetown, Texas needs a talented African American woman to fill in the role of Alice's daughter due to a cast member dropping out.
This is an outstanding opportunity for you to be featured on-stage in the wonderful, 300-seat Palace Theatre in downtown Georgetown, Texas. This is a wonderful role with a beautiful solo song "How Blest We Are". In addition to this, this actor will be featured in several other beautiful gospel-based numbers.
Although we are unable to provide compensation for actors, our audiences are very friendly and enthusiastic and you will not regret coming to Georgetown to play with us.
Songs you will be featured in are:
"The Crossing"
"Free at Last"
"Waiting for the Light to Shine Reprise"
"How Blest We are"
The show is currently in rehearsal and we open on July 17th. Shows are performed on Friday and Saturday evenings and a Sunday matinee.
WHERE: The Georgetown Palace Theater
810 S. Austin Ave.
Georgetown, Texas 78626
PERFORMANCE DATES: July 17 through August 16, 2009
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: http://www.georgetownpalace.com/Rehearsals_river.html
Some details about the show:
Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are funny, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life favorite characters from the novel, such as the Widow Douglas and her stern sister, Miss Watson; the uproarious King and Duke, who may or may not be as harmless as they seem; Huck's partner in crime, Tom Sawyer, and their rowdy gang of pals; Huck's drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn; and the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes and her trusting family. Propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the 'King of Country Music,' this jaunty journey provides a theatrical celebration of pure Americana. This show is a marvelous opportunity and I encourage anyone who is interested to listen to the CD before scheduling an audition. You won't be disappointed.
